Graham Walker: Cello
Graham Walker is one of the most promising cellists of his generation. Playing variously on modern, classical and baroque instruments, he has performed with some of the country’s leading orchestras, and has a flourishing career as a solo recitalist and chamber musician.
As a soloist, Graham has given recitals across the UK, Europe and the USA, and has performed concertos with a variety of orchestras. He has a wide repertoire which reflects his eclectic musical interests.
Graham is principal cellist of Opera East Productions, a touring chamber opera company, and of Iford Opera. He is also a regular on the professional orchestral circuit, and has recently played for the ENO and the RSNO.
As a chamber musician, Graham is the cellist of the Farrington Ensemble (violin, cello, clarinet and piano), the British Camerata (early music vocal and instrumental), Janiculum (early music) and Classico Latino (piano trio playing classic Latin-American music). Graham plays on a fine modern cello made by Tony Padday, an English maker from Dorset, with a bow by HR Pfretzschner.
His baroque cello is a recently restored example from the Betts workshop, ca. 1800, and he uses a bow by Roger Doe.
